This particular himmeli has all kinds of symbolism that you can read about here.

YOU WILL NEED:

18 9-inch straws (cut to length if necessary) 18 12-inch pipe cleaners (cut to length if necessary)

STEP ONE: cut the straws and pipe cleaners in half. You'll have 36 4.5" straws and 36 6" pipe cleaners.

STEP TWO: stick the pipe cleaners in the straws so that 3/4" of pipe cleaner sticks out from each end.

STEP THREE: make two 4-pole tents by twisting the pipe cleaners together.

STEP FOUR: make a football by twisting the pipe cleaners of the bases of the tents together. Point the pipe cleaners outward.

STEP FIVE: start attaching straws around the waist of the football by twisting pipe cleaners together. Here's the first one:

Here's what it looks like when all four straws are attached around the waist of the football.

STEP SIX: make 8 3-pole tents.

STEP SEVEN: bend the feet of your tents upward.

STEP EIGHT: attach the 8 3-pole tents to your football by twisting the pipe cleaners together. Here is a picture of the first tent attached (it's on the upper right of the football):

And here's what it looks like when you've attached all 8 tents: It will lie flat, but it doesn't look particularly good this way.

Here's what it looks like hanging: It should look like a tetrahedron pointing up and a tetrahedron pointing down.
